Baqala pronounced as BAH-KA-LAH is an Arabic term they use in the Middle East to refer to a small convenience store. If you’re a savvy shopper on the lookout for affordable grocery items or possibly the cheapest grocery store in Qatar then Nine Stars Trading is your place.
Nine Stars Trading is a small convenience store that’s been making rounds on TikTok because of its inexpensive items starting at 1 Qatari Riyal. They said it’s one of the cheapest grocery store in Qatar, I got curious and visited the said baqala/ grocery store to see for myself what was the buzz all about.
Where is Nine Stars Trading Located?
Nine Stars Trading is Located at the Old Souq in Al Wakra. You can get there via personal vehicle or metro ( Al Wakra station) + bus.
On a personal note, the old souq in Al Wakra is confusing to be honest because the place is like a maze, I had to ask the guard for directions.
The store is quite far from the city area so it’s better to visit it only if you’re buying in bulk or you’re doing it as a side trip.
What can you find in Nine Stars Trading?
Upon entering you’ll be welcomed by the shelves of sweets, from chocolates, wafers, candies, and biscuits. You could find a 150g bar of chocolate for as low as 3 Qatari Riyals, for the other items you could zoom in the photos for price reference.
l
They also have personal hygiene items, cleaning items, snacks, teas, spices, and frozen food items.
What to expect from Nine Star Trading?
Manage your expectations because as I have mentioned earlier, it’s a baqala, a small convenience store. It wouldn’t take you more than 5 minutes to go around the place.
There are also no guarantees that you will find the same items that were posted in this blog upon your visit.
And behind these mark-down prices is a catch, the cheaper the item the nearer it is to its expiration date.
Always check the expiration date of the items.
Therefore If you are planning to visit the place, It is advised to buy items for immediate consumption, for some of the items are only a month or two away from the expiration date.
Here’s a friendly reminder to every buyer out there:
Caveat Emptor
A latin phrase which means “let the buyer beware”. It is your responsibility as a buyer to check and examine or assess the item, due diligence for short before purchasing it.
Happy shopping!
That’s all for this blog.
